My Dad explained supply and demand to me in 3rd grade.
He said, “When there’s more demand than supply, prices go up. When there’s more supply than demand, prices will go down.”
So simple. But it stuck. Even today, I can feel that concept light up my brain.
Something about it is fundamental. It explains so much of our modern world.
That was my first lesson in markets and I guess that’s when I got hooked. Now, here we are 25 years later…
Its a core memory for me. Just as much as watching Michael Jordan and the Bulls complete the second 3-peat.
I’m quite positive he doesn’t remember teaching me this, but I’m thankful he did. It may have set the course of my life. It’s served me well.
Here are two parenting reminders to myself. First, teach your kids things, even if you don’t think they’ll understand. Second, stay on guard, because you never know what little moment will become a core memory. You want it to be good one.
